Abiku is an “almost-emerging” band. They play simple pop songs, but they’re able to contaminate their music with a wide range of sounds and I think the outcome is great. I really like their 2011 “Technicolor” album. The guitars remind me of Cocteau Twins and the whole record is a kind of a mix between The Cure and the pop-ish Talk Talk. I can definitely say that Technicolor inspired some of the guitar sounds you can hear on the last record by Good Morning Finch.

Colapesce is a songwriter I discovered many years ago when he was still unknown. I listened to his first self-titled EP and immediately fell in love with it. Since then he has released two great albums with one of the most important Italian indie label. Here is his new wonderful video:

Verdena is my favourite Italian band, they’re quite accomplished here. Their first album is from 1999, very Nirvana sounding but little by little they forged a unique sound, which is a mix of fuzzy guitars, impressive bass sound and a very powerful and original drumming. Seeing them live is an outstanding experience. They have always been a great source of inspiration for Good Morning Finch.

Port-royal is a band from Genoa. In the beginning they played a mix of ambient and post-rock and now they’re more into electronica. Their shows are always accompanied by visuals and a lot of colored lights and other stuff. I suggest you to listen to the whole discography.

They used to stratify layers of guitars and to put lyrics as spoken words. A milestone for the Italian alternative scene of 90’s/00’s and another great inspiration for the Gemini sound.

Lillo Morreale is the lead vocalist and guitarist of Good Morning Finch, an Italian independent band formed in 2010. The full lineup is composed by John, Lillo, Gloria and Gregorio. Until now they have released 2 EPs – Forty Years Ago (2011), Cosmonaut (2013) – and Gemini which is a 11 tracks LP that turned the band onto a new path. While their previous EPs were pure post-rock releases, their first album brings Good Morning Finch in a different area, forging a shoegaze sound with pop lyrics and post-rock instrumentals. Gemini is available on Bandcamp in “name your price” digital download (you can choose between free or paid download) and limited edition CD.
